Michigan peaches ready now, delicious!
Our own homegrown sweet corn is here and it's good! We've lowered the price to $3.99 a dozen. We grow the the corn right here on our farm. It's picked several times throughout the day. We do this because the sugar in corn starts to turn to starch as soon as it's picked and we want to ensure freshness. Others have their corn shipped in a couple of times a week and by the time you get it, the sugar has already turned to starch. Ours is the best......from our fields to your table!
We also have homegrown zucchini, green beans, peppers and other delicious produce available in our market now.

Strawberries 2011, We can't wait!
We get a lot of questions this time of year asking when the strawberries will be ready for picking. They will be ready some time in June. With strawberries, everything depends on the weather. We have had a very cool spring so it looks like the season will be a little late. We are keeping a close eye on the plants and are busy planning our strawberry madness festival. Strawberry Madness is usually scheduled on a Saturday at the peak of the strawberry season. It is so much fun that we decided to add an extra day. It is scheduled for Saturday June 11th and Sunday June 12th with dates subject to change pending the weather. We will be sending newsletters, posting on facebook, tweeting and updating this blog frequently to keep everyone informed and up to date!

Custom Planting
We have been busy this week with our custom planting. It's a service that we offer every spring.
Simply bring in your pots or choose a container from our diverse selection of sizes and styles. One of our plant professionals will help you select plants based on your growing conditions and your personal tastes. Simply give us your color scheme and let us design something for you. Or, pick out the exact flowers and accent plants that you like and we will make it happen.
We do custom planting in April, May and June. Your custom planted pots will be ready within a week for you to pick up. We cannot hold custom planted containers. Therefore, please place your orders a few days before you are ready for them.
The cost is based on materials used and labor. There is a cleaning/disinfecting fee for containers that are recycled.

The greenhouses are full. We will now be spending our time tending the plants. Pruning, feeding , watering and praying for sunshine to help them along. When we are not tending plants we are getting the market read for opening. Inventory continues to arrive and the displays are coming together nicely.
We will be having a grand opening on April 2nd to unveil our new remodel. Come and view the new plants, take a tour, take advantage of special discounts, sample food and wine and more! The place looks grand and we can't wait for you to see it!
The first image is of our big beautiful porch pot combo's. It's hard to believe that in a few weeks the will be blooming profusely and jumping out of the pot! The second image is a sea of geraniums. They are one of our all time favorite plants and we can proudly say that no one can grow them like we can! Look for new varieties this season.

Spring is upon us! Johnson's Farm Produce
Hello and welcome! We have been busier than usual preparing for the 2011 gardening season and we can't wait to share it with you! We are in the process of updating our website. We've added this blog and are on Facebook and Twitter. We can now easily keep you updated with current information. Follow us on Facebook and Twitter for quick blurbs or visit us here for more detailed information.
Steve, Fernando and crew did a major remodel in our greenhouses. The retail area has been expanded and we have widened the aisles to allow for easier shopping. While the boys were working, the girls were shopping. We traveled to Atlanta to purchase much of our giftware and we came away with some fabulous things! Look for ceramic pots and lots of them in many shapes, sizes and colors. Fairy items are back! We have a complete line along with accessories and lots of adorable little fairies to grace your garden. New this year and what we are most excited about are firepots. Firepots are decorative tabletop ceramic containers that you use to burn fuel gel. They can be used indoors or out. We have quite a variety so be sure to check them out!
Our spring planting begins next week. We fire up the greenhouses one by one and plant until they are all full. It's quite a task but oh so rewarding! A couple of new plants to watch for this year....Little Lime and Bella Anna Hydrangeas, Blackberry Punch Superbells and the Home Run Rose.
And now a little bit of color to brighten your winter day.......
